School Services & Activities

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC PROGRAMS

Students in grades five and six are eligible to take part in band or orchestra. Lessons are given once each week at Lincoln and students have opportunities to advance at their ability level.

LEARNING CENTER

If a child is experiencing unusual learning or behavior problems, a parent or teacher may request a conference with the principal. If a child is in need, special programming may be provided through the Learning Center with a certified Special Education teacher via an Individualized Education Plan.

SPEECH

The Watertown School District 14-4 does provide a speech therapist for students who are in need of additional speech and/or language development.

S.A.F.E.

Student Assistance For Everyone is a guidance service provided for all students. Counselors provide classroom instruction and individual or group counseling. The counselors also offer services to parents and teachers.

GIFTED

The Gifted Program is for students with high academic abilities. A student may be referred for testing by a parent, teacher, or principal. To be eligible for the gifted program, a student must score 2 or more years above grade level on an educational achievement test in reading or math, and 130 or higher on an IQ test. Classroom enrichment and challenges or individualized programs are available for students who qualify.

Social Workers

There are two social workers shared at the elementary level between district buildings.  If you would like to set an appointment with the social worker, call the office at 882-6340 and we will make those arrangements.

KidScope After School Program

KidScope provides care to children in grades Kindergarten through Sixth.  The After School Program is held at the five elementary schools from dismissal time to 6:00pm.  An after school snack is served from 3:30pm to 4:00pm. For more information and cost call 886-6666.

 

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

FLAG FOOTBALL

Sixth grade boys may participate in this activity during the first six weeks of school. Practice is held on the Lincoln playground and each week's game is played on a field located south of the Middle School.

BASKETBALL (GIRLS & BOYS)

The sixth grade basketball program is sponsored by the school district in the fall quarter for girls and winter quarter for boys. Students practice and play games after school. Emphasis is placed on developing beginning skills, participation by everyone and fun!

VOLLEYBALL (GIRLS)

Sixth grade girls may participate in this activity during the fall for eight weeks.  Students will practice and play games after school

WRESTLING

This is also a district sponsored program for boys in grades 3-6. It is held in late February and students practice after school in the Lincoln gym.

FIELD DAY

Fifth and sixth grade students take part in track and field events during the last week of school at the High School track. Each student may enter three events. Students prepare for this during the track unit in physical education class scheduled in May.
