DISTRICT PROGRAMS

GATE Classroom
Identified elementary students in grades two through six are eligible to participate in the GATE classroom which meets at Garfield School one half day each week.  Each grade has a curriculum topic as a focus with a learning emphasis in research and technology.  Please visit the GATE Classroom


TAG Program - Middle School
Middle
School students are eligible to participate in the TAG program which meets Mondays and Fridays.  Students can participate in discussion groups, accelerated course work, and organizations before and after school hours.  Please visit the TAG Program - Middle School


TAG Program - High School
High School students are eligible to participate in the TAG program which meets Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  Students can participate in discussion groups, accelerated course work, AP classes, and organizations before and after school hours.  Please visit the TAG Program - High School

Adaptive Physical Education & Special Olympics

Students eligible for the Adaptive Physical Education program gain fitness, strength, and coordination skills working individually and in small groups with a special education instructor.  Students who excel in competitive activities may qualify for Special Olympics competitions which are hosted locally and nationally.


Learning With Laptops

Every student and teacher in the high school uses a laptop computer to write, read, research, and communicate with one another.  Equal access to technology and acquiring 21st century skills are two goals of the Learning With Laptops program.
